Israel’s Killing of Top Iranian Leaders: Will It Change the Government or Just Make More War?

The war between the US, Israel, and Iran is now in its third week (as of March 18, 2026). Things are getting worse fast.Israel says it killed Iran’s Intelligence Minister, Esmail Khatib, in a night attack on Tehran. This happened just one day after they killed Iran’s top security boss, Ali Larijani, and another important commander, Gholamreza Soleimani (head of the Basij militia).

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said their army now has permission to attack any high Iranian leader they find—no need to ask again. Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls this war a fight for survival. He thinks killing these leaders will make Iran’s government weak and maybe fall apart.

Can killing leaders really change the government?

Maybe yes. Iran already lost its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, at the start of the war. Larijani was like the new boss after that. Removing these people can break plans and create fear inside Iran. But many experts say no—it can make things worse. Past wars (like in Iraq or Libya) show bombing leaders doesn’t always bring new governments. Iran’s system has backups.

A new supreme leader (Mojtaba Khamenei) is already in place. The powerful Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) stays loyal. These killings might make people angry and fight harder.Iran hit back hard. They fired missiles with cluster bombs at central Israel (near Tel Aviv). At least two people died there. Iran calls it “revenge” for the killings. They promise more big attacks.

How does this affect Kenya?

The war makes oil prices go up (crude oil over $96 a barrel). That means higher fuel prices at Kenyan petrol stations. Matatu rides, food like unga, and everything shipped will cost more. If the war gets bigger, it could cause more problems in the Middle East and affect trade or even refugees in our region.

Normal people in Iran live in fear from constant bombs. Israelis wait for more missiles. Everyone loses in this endless fighting. Is Israel’s plan smart to stop danger long-term, or is it risky and will cause bigger war? What do you think?
