Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo has confirmed some key changes within his County executive, in a bid to streamline service delivery in the county.

In a gazette notice dated March 13, Nyaribo said that the changes, which took effect on March 4, 2026 affects several County Executive Committee Members and county chief officers.

As per the notice, Stephen Oboso was reassigned from the Lands, Housing, Urban Development, and Physical Planning docket to head the Finance and Economic Planning department.

John Omambia Matiangi now steers the Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services ministry, after being removed as the Trade, Tourism and Cooperative Development CECM.

Bernard Mbere Maina, who previously served as the CECM for Trade, Tourism, and Cooperative Development, has been moved to the Lands, Housing, Urban Development, and Physical Planning portfolio.

Meanwhile,  Alice Manoti has been reassigned from the Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services docket to head the Environment, Water, Energy, Natural Resources and Climate Change department.

On the other hand, Rael Momanyi was moved from Public Service Management to serve as Chief Officer for Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services to replace Mercy Moraa Motanya, who took over the Public Service Management docket.

The announcement comes almost three months after the county chief survived an impeachment, which was pushed by Nyamira MCAs, who accused the governor of illegal appointments and abuse of office.

Nyaribo had rejected all the allegations against him as the Senate began hearings into his proposed impeachment.

However, on Wednesday, December 3, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi said that Nyaribo will continue serving as the county governor, following a preliminary objection filed by Nyaribo, who argued that the impeachment was invalid because the Nyamura County Assembly did not meet the constitutional threshold required to approve his removal from office.

The reshuffling comes two weeks after his Kakamega Counterpart Fernandes Barasa also announced changes affecting three key chief officers in his county executive.

In a statement on March 2, 2026, the governor confirmed that Anselm Mulinya had been moved from Chief Officer for Education, Science, and Technology to now serve as Chief Officer for Cooperatives.

Daniel Seth Sumba, who previously headed the Cooperatives docket, took charge of County Administration, assuming oversight of a department central to coordination and policy implementation.

Samuel Ambrose Makokha was also reassigned from County Administration to the Education, Science, and Technology department, completing the three-way reshuffle announced by Governor Baraza.
